BENTELER Mobility,
HOLON and EGME
together sign
strategic MoU
BENTELER Mobility, HOLON GmbH and Emirates Global Motor Electric, Al Fahim Group together sign a strategic MoU for the operation of autonomous shuttles in the UAE
Today each of (1) BENTELER Mobility, a global leader in autonomous Mobility-as-a-Service (“MaaS”) solutions; (2) HOLON, a leading manufacturer of autonomous shuttle vehicles; and (3) Emirates Global Motor Electric (“EGME”), a leading UAE-based sustainable mobility provider and subsidiary of the Al Fahim Group have signed a memorandum of understanding outlining their strategic new collaboration to bring and operate autonomous mobility solutions to the UAE (the “MOU”).
Under the terms of the collaboration, the companies shall jointly introduce and bring the HOLON urban (HOLON’s fully electric autonomous shuttle) and BENTELER Mobility’s solutions to the UAE. EGME will be the operator for autonomous and electric vehicle fleets in the UAE, starting with first prototype testing in Q2 2026.
The partnership combines BENTELER Mobility’s global ecosystem orchestration capabilities with HOLON’s market leading autonomous vehicle and EGME’s electrification expertise and turnkey solutions for electric commercial vehicles, further strengthening all parties’ positions in sustainable and autonomous transportation. The goal is to build a comprehensive framework for scaling next-generation mobility solutions across one of the fastest-growing regions in the world.
A shared vision for future UAE mobility solutions
The MoU represents a significant step toward delivering safe and sustainable autonomous transportation across the UAE. Under the terms of the proposed collaboration, it is envisaged that EGME will be responsible for most of BENTELER Mobility’s MaaS ecosystem in the UAE, ensuring localized support, and operational excellence.
This includes:
Full vehicle lifecycle management: Unlike traditional fleet operations that focus primarily on maintenance, EGME intends to provide a 360-degree service framework to increase uptime, safety, and return on investment. The collaboration scope encompasses preventive and corrective maintenance, parts inventory management, and day-to-day vehicle care. The joint offering to fleet customers guarantees higher vehicle uptime, predictable operating costs, and longer asset lifespans.
Intelligent fleet management: The collaboration intends to use real-time monitoring and advanced analytics to optimize operations, utilization, and service availability. This includes tracking vehicle performance, predicting maintenance needs, and reducing idle time to ensure fleets are deployed efficiently. The result is a transparent, data-driven approach that empowers operators to sustain reliable service levels while balancing efficiency and sustainability goals.
Charging infrastructure: To ensure a reliable footprint of energy delivery stations for fleets in the UAE, EGME will provide charging infrastructure that integrates directly into the BENTELER Mobility’s orchestration network. Working off its leading EV Hub blueprint, EGME will provide critical turnkey installations of charging stations and smart energy management to reduce costs and balance grid demand, thereby keeping vehicles in service with minimal downtime.
By combining these services, the companies aim to accelerate adoption of autonomous and electric vehicles, delivering a reliable, cost-efficient, and customer-centric MaaS model that meets the needs of municipalities, transit operators, airports, and private entities.
Growing autonomous mobility solutions in the UAE
This strategic project aligns with regional priorities such the UAE’s 2050 net-zero strategy and Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) target for 25% of trips across land, marine, and urban air transport to be autonomous by 2040.
For BENTELER Mobility and HOLON, both part of the wider BENTELER Group, the collaboration with EGME represents a dynamic and exciting entrance into a high-potential growth market where rapid infrastructure development, government-backed initiatives, and costumer demand for sustainable solutions converge to create ideal conditions for autonomous and electric fleet deployment.
Commenting on the newly signed MoU, Tobias Liebelt, CEO of BENTELER Mobility, said: “Our partnership with Emirates Global Motor Electric is a decisive step forward in bringing autonomous and electric mobility to the UAE. EGME’s deep local expertise and electrification core competences, aligned with BENTELER Mobility’s differentiating end-to-end mobility solutions, will allow us to grow future-ready autonomous and electric fleets across key markets. Together, we are not only accelerating the adoption of autonomous technology but also contributing to UAE’s ambitious sustainability and innovation goals.”
Dr. Sven Herzig, CSO of HOLON, added that “We are delighted about this new partnership. It not only expands our already successful collaboration with BENTELER Mobility but our new partner EGME will add value to our network and also promote the deployment of our autonomous HOLON urban in the UAE. We are pleased to be displaying our HOLON urban for the first time Abu Dhabi at DRIFTX to mark the start of our journey into the UAE autonomous market”
Hany G Tawfik, General Manager of Emirates Global Motor Electric: “At EGME, innovation drives our vision and partnerships define our progress. Joining hands with BENTELER Mobility and HOLON allows us to offer autonomous and electric mobility solutions — not as a concept, but as a scalable solution for daily operation in the UAE. This partnership reinforces our commitment to advancing technology that moves the region closer to its Net Zero 2050 vision.”
